Armor and Powers Saw the Power Rangers movie the other day...and realized I hardly mentioned the fact that most of the characters I've shown are a part of a secret organization with armor and powers and stuff (read as: superheroes)! All Guardians have the same black armor. While sinister looking, the suit is designed more to keep the wearer anonymous and emphasis the team over the individual (ignoring obvious differences, if you're helped by a Guardian you can't identify which one helped you, just that one of them did). The armor is form-fit to the owner and can only be worn by the owner. I'm unsure if I'm keeping the glowing eyes.

Vivvia can grow plant matter of her body. She doesn't turn into a tree so much as be a host for plant life that obeys her command. Most often, she'll just grow this matter out of parts of her body for whatever task, but if the situations calls for it she can "turn into" an ent (pictured below). The plant matter is hardier than nature plant life, but not as protective as her armor. Her antlers have extra armor as a disguise, as capraeth can be identified by their horns depending on how unique they are.

Ante and Taru are the most similar appearing on the team when in armor. Taru is taller than Ante, but unless they're standing next to one another, it's hard to tell! At least until they open their mouths to speak... As far as their tails go, I'm not sure how I'm doing the armor on that. It's weird to leave it uncovered (considering a well placed shot in the behind could bypass the armor), but not happy with any sketches I've done so far of it armored.

Ante's power is insanely good eyesight...which is a lot less impressive than others he doesn't care. Since powers are partially chosen by the Guardian and he's a pretty straight forward guy, he developed it based on his existing skillsets. Min-maxing if you will. The result is terrifying if you're his target. While he can't see through walls, he might as well be able to, he can see farther, see clearly in horrible weather, track multiple targets at once, and have near perfect accuracy with his attacks...but he still can't see why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Taru's power is dubbed 'void ammo'. Essentially, any weapon she holds has a bottomless clip...the only thing stopping her is her carrying capacity. Paired with Saewin though (who can summon items/weapons from a personal pocket-dimension), she's even more terrifying than Ante. I'm contemplating extending it farther to other uses, but I'm afraid of making her too OP, haha! Give her a machine gun and she can tear everything to shreds (if that's the objective). Right now it only applies to ammunition based weapons, but I might apply it to fuel based (ie flamethrower, chainsaw (wut)), non-weapons (jetpack? jetpack), etc.

I dub the ent: Groot Suit I would go with no glowing eyes, so that with the helmet, there would be a "faceless" look for the wearer, that looks just plain creepy

@MatrixMercenary: Haha :D

Thanks for the input!

2nding for eyeless. Creepy and anonymous. Faceless would go extremely well with the "I'm not an individual" ideal.

As for tails, there is a way you can hide it without armor. Just use a cloak, doesn't have to be a full body cloak either, just waist down. http://img08.deviantart.net/4d49/i/2012/195/9/1/mmd_waist_cape_by_minamimoto777-d579du2.jp g Basically just a cloak for your butt but without being a full on skirt. Fluffier tails I guess would have to be forced to be tied in a more of a bun shape while wearing the armor or else the cloak would have to be touching the ground to be hiding anything which isn't good for movement. Edit: for the image be sure to remove the space between the p and g at the end, for whatever reason the site auto space that.

@Zelkova: Thanks for the input!

One of the things Smackjeeves does that annoys me DX Ah, but thank you for the idea! I think I'll mess around that C:

You never told us about this! DX This sounds awesome and just makes me want this comic alll the moooore...

I honestly kinda liked the glowing eyes, but I see what everybody else is getting at, with having them be eyeless.

Vivvia's powers are super-awesome (partially because I like trees, but also because SHE CAN TURN INTO AN ENT), and Ante and Taru's powers are great too. Also fit nicely with what I know of their characters (Taru PUT THAT THING DOWN) XD

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Haha, I don't want to overshare because some things should be saved for the comic, but then end up undersharing instead!

Haha, you see my problem! XD

Glad you like them! :D
ReaderWriterNerd&Geek March 29th, 2017, 6:25 pm
@Pokemontrainergigi: Oh gosh, yes, the sharing problem! I know how you feel. Where there's all this cool stuff percolating in your head, but you don't want to tell everybody *all* the cool stuff, but then sometimes you miss something important...I get it. XD

Also, I'm not entirely sure how eyeless is supposed to work? Would it be like, behind tinted glass? Wouldn't that make it hard to see?

And you're welcome :D
Pokemontrainergigi March 31st, 2017, 12:42 am
@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Haha, yeah! XD

It works similar to a one way mirror, one side appears glossy and reflective while the other is see through (probably obvious which side is which! XD). Since we're talking future tech here too, so it's got a cool HUD on the inside. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them has found a way to hook up a computer or something to it to play VR games =P
ReaderWriterNerd&Geek March 31st, 2017, 3:57 pm
@Pokemontrainergigi: Ah, okay, that makes sense. :) And now I'm just imagining Team Leader barking at everyone to "Stop playing video games and get into position!" XD
TheSmashBro March 26th, 2017, 8:17 pm
Were you watching the power rangers marathon on twitch? S.P.D. and space friendship bracelets is the best season. Also that ent looks awesome.

I think by lore removing the eyes makes sense, but for the art it might make it too impersonal. Gotta show emotion somehow. Body language is always fine but the face is the most important. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ though. My only authority is shower thoughts.
Pokemontrainergigi March 29th, 2017, 6:17 pm
@TheSmashBro: Nope! The new Power Rangers movie ;D Haven't seen Power Rangers since I was a kid before that, haha! I thought it was pretty great C:

Thanks for the input! For the art, I've done a bit of research into that problem! Iron Man movies do it well, where they have a close up shot of his face in a void while he's suited up. I've also seen people do cross section where they reveal the wearer's face so the audience can see their emotions.
WiispNightmare March 27th, 2017, 6:50 am
Hmmmmm
I give a thumbs-up all around.
On the subject of eye glow, I think I agree with RWN&G in that they can be used to show something of emotion, i.e. narrowing of eyes or a slight change in shape when laughing or getting angry. But at the same time the argument of no individuality with faceless masks is good too.
I'm right along with you and clueless on the subject of tail armor *shrugs*
(Ante, kids like Cinnamon Toast Crunch because in the commercials they eat each other and who doesn't love sugary cannibalistic artificial desserts-masquerading-as-breakfast?)
Ante should totally apply her ability to fuel based. But her weakness can be she hasn't a clue how to handle swords and all that :P
Pokemontrainergigi March 29th, 2017, 6:27 pm
@WiispNightmare: Thank you, and thanks for the input!

(mmmmhmmm cannibalism!)

Hehe, Ante's male, Taru's female. Taru's the one with machine gun, infinite ammo and love of violence! But no problem, they're suppose to be hard to tell apart! =P

Taru's experience is "jack of all trades, master of none". She can use a lot of different weapons, but not very efficiently. So you're pretty spot on!
WiispNightmare March 30th, 2017, 6:38 am
@Pokemontrainergigi: Np! (Most people don't read any input I give so y'know XP)

(so delish)

Ah sorry I get my pronouns mixed up sometimes. (My computer has some weird autocorrect thing going on >.>;)

Yeyyyyy >w<
