Saewin and Shade Saewin and his familiar, Shade! Saewin is a Pomeii, a reptilian species who bond with an animal, making it their familiar. They bond for life, if one dies, the other usually does as well (out of grief). Also, a pomeii cannot live without a familiar, and will die if one is not found by a certain age (tbd).

Saewin met Shade near the end of this time, and the two have been the best of buddies ever since. Saewin hates to wear clothes, constantly makes sexual innuendos, and is flirty...very flirty. He'll hit on anybody he thinks he's got a chance with. Shade keeps him in check though. Despite all that, he's very loyal to his close friends, even if they don't realize it.

Shade is suppose to be a little taller than depicted, oops

Hi there, guy who now has a name! :D ...You're just the Pomeii version of Brock...

LOL, but I like his design and the picture is cracking me up! Shade seems very long-suffering.

But whoa, Pomeii *die* if they can't find a familiar in time? O.o That's a heavy thing to have to lay on a kid. "You have to find a familiar by a certain time or you will DIE. End of story. Have fun kid." XD

P.S. How do you pronounce "Saewin"?

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Haha, you're not the first to point that out to me XD Thank you!

Yep! Even better, I'm going reptile here with no parental attachment. Granted, they aren't abandoned, just cared for by the community. And all the eggs are stuck in a communal clutch and the community makes sure they're at least fed. But they're pretty laid back about the whole kid-death thing, so they won't get attached to them.

("Say-win")

@Pokemontrainergigi: Just say when! ... Um. Anyway.

Haha, I wondered. XD Brock was the only person I could think of. You're welcome!

And huh, OK. That makes sense. (Funnily enough, that's the way I envision Charizard raising their young, sort of - just put all the eggs into one clutch and everybody takes care of them.) I guess the kids must be reasonably laid back about it too?

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek: Yeah, they might be sad for a little bit for losing a friend, but they'll get over it relatively quickly (especially since the adults don't make a big deal out of it).

@Pokemontrainergigi: Huh. From an outsider's point of view, it sounds like a pretty rough society, but to them it's just a fact of life, I guess. Points to you for being courageous enough to create wildly differing societies in your stories :)

@Pokemontrainergigi: so is the pomeii and the familiar bond (thing) kind of like the bond between human/elf and the dragons in the Inheritance Cycle (if you have never read the series you should, it amazing)

@AzpbEagleHunter: Never read it, so I can't say!
